Superior K9 Training Academy is proud to offer an all inclusive service dog training program for children and families with special needs. We train service dogs for a variety of needs including emotional support, PTSD, psychiatric support, therapy, stability/balance, wheelchair assistance, autism/down syndrome, and much more. Our program is unique because it is fully customizable and tailored to you or your family’s specific needs.
We provide all the necessary training and training equipment that will be personalized for your dog, including ID cards, certifications, digital and physical copies of your certifications, customized instructional emails after each board & train, all AKC and CGC tests, titles, and awards, and discounted rates for phone support/classes during normal business hours. The training equipment will include collars, leashes, patches, and service dog vests. If you complete our full 12-18 month program, you will be given free access to our monthly group refresher classes for life.
If you and your family have determined that you need a service dog, we can put you in touch with one of our preferred breeders to start the puppy selection process. If you already have a breeder that you would like to get a puppy from, we will work with them as well. After you make an appointment with the breeder, Missy and her team will accompany you to evaluate the best puppy for your needs. Not every puppy is capable of becoming a service dog, as there are many factors that determine a puppy’s eligibility; that’s why we join you and help guide you during the selection process.
Of course, we want you to find the puppy that you want, but when it comes to service dogs, our main focus is finding the puppy that you need.
If you already have a puppy that you would like to enroll in our program, you will need to schedule an in person evaluation so we can develop the best training plan for you or your family.
Once you have your puppy, your family will spend time with them at home to start bonding and begin crate training. If you are unsure how to begin crate training, we will guide you through the process. During that time, Missy designs your custom program and training schedule, which will consist of a combination of board & train time and private handler classes. If your puppy is already crate trained, we will schedule their foundation training to begin at 12 weeks of age.
Length of program: 12-18 months
Service dog training begins at 8 weeks of age. This program is only available to puppies starting between 2-6 months of age, as it is critical to lay the appropriate foundation of training during their most impressionable stage of life.
Puppies must be crate trained and fully vaccinated prior to starting the program.
