If you and your family want a fully recognized personal protection dog but are not sure where to start, look no further than our Puppy to Protector program. This program will take you and your family, with your new puppy, through every training stage from the time you bring your furry friend home, to the day he/she becomes a fully recognized personal protector for your family.
When you’re ready to purchase a puppy, we can put you in contact with one of our preferred breeders. If you already have a breeder you would like to do business with, we can work with them as well. Once you have set an appointment with the breeder, Missy and her trainers will accompany you and help evaluate the available puppies to choose the best fit for the program and your family. Not every dog is capable of protection, that is why we join you during selection.
Once you have selected your puppy, you will spend the next 4 weeks with your puppy at home, bonding and beginning crate training, which we will teach you how to do. You will also use this time to get your first round of vet visits and puppy vaccinations taken care of. During that time, we will design a training schedule for you and your dog, outlining every stage of your dog’s training, including board & train intervals, and handler classes in between.
After 4 weeks, we will schedule your first round of board and train, which will consist of our Elite Foundations program. Your first 4 week program will take your puppy through all the necessary foundation training, including manners, leash training, basic obedience, and an introduction to advanced obedience. You will receive a 2 hour handler class at time of pick up, teaching you everything your puppy has learned and how to maintain their training at home.
The program will continue as outlined in your custom training schedule, at age appropriate intervals, until your dog becomes fully protection trained.
We highly recommend German Shepherds for personal protection, as they tend to have the necessary drive, balanced personalities, and naturally protective instincts.
